Iowa Fire Leads to Wrongful Death Suit

A wrongful death suit was recently filed in Mason City, Iowa, regarding a fire accident that took the life of a woman.

The suit was filed against the man who shared the home with the victim where the fire broke out one September night.

Fire in the Middle of the Night

According to reports, Sharon Young, 50, who shared a home with Ron Larsen, was sleeping when the fire started.

Young’s daughter-in-law, Jennifer, and her daughter, Becky, were also in the house at the time.

Young reportedly woke Jennifer and Becky and got them out of the house, but was unable to do the same for herself.

The fire marshal’s report shows that embers from a burning cigarette are to blame for the accident.

Suit Filed by Family

Young’s son, Scott, Jennifer and Becky all filed the suit against Larsen that claims he is to blame for their loved one’s wrongful death.

The suit makes accusations of negligence and is seeking damages, including medical and burial expenses.
