The family of a man who was recently killed in a crane accident has filed a lawsuit against the company their son was employed for.
The fatal incident occurred in late July at the Rockford-based Area Erectors at the Wildwood Industries construction project.
Construction Accident Takes Life
Joshua Dawe, 33, was working at a site in the north side of Normal on the day that a crane suddenly came crashing down.
Dawe was instantly killed by the crane collapse and no other injuries were reported in the lawsuit.
Lawsuit Allegations
Dawe’s estate has filed the suit against Johnston Contractors Inc. claiming they are responsible for the wrongful death.
The victim was reportedly in the basket of the aerial lift when the crane’s boom collapsed onto the basket.
The suit states that the defendants were responsible for coordinating and inspecting all work at the site and they failed to do so.
The family is seeking compensation of more than $50,000 in damages.
