A woman living in Oregon recently filed a suit against a youth pastor after a trampoline accident resulting in a spinal cord injury.
The 20-year-old woman says that the pastor should have known that his weight would cause her to catapult in the air.
Trampoline Accident Causes Injuries
Christi Freitag was 17 at the time of the trampoline accident that changed her life forever.
Freitag and Pastor Matt Lambrecht were reportedly bouncing on a trampoline when Freitag flew in the air and landed on her head.
At the time, Lambrecht was listed as being 6-foot-2 and 183 pounds, while Freitag was a slight 5-foot-3 and weighed 115 pounds.
As a result of the accident, Freitag is now a quadriplegic and is going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
Lawsuit Claims Pastor was Careless
The lawsuit filed names Pastor Lambrecht, the Archdiocese of Portland and the manufacturers of the trampoline as defendants.
Freitag and her family are seeking $33.5 million in the neck injury suit and hope that this kind of a settlement will enable past and future medical expenses to be covered for the duration of her life.
“In a nutshell, it’s a series of tragic and sad events that snowballed-almost like a snowball rolling downward toward hell,” stated Freitag’s attorney, James Shadduck.
